Police in Mulki have arrested a college student for allegedly transporting Hydro Weed cannabis worth approximately Rs 35 lakh, raising serious concerns about drug trafficking in the coastal region.
The suspect, a final-year BCA student from
Hulidevara Bana in Sagar taluk, Shivamogga district, was detained on 12 May
near Mulki Railway Station after police received credible intelligence.
During a search, officers recovered 1kg and 42gm of Hydro Weed, along with a mobile phone and other materials linked to drug trafficking.
The student is believed
to have sourced the drugs from Chennai and transported them by train or bus to
sell among college students and youth.
She has prior cases under the NDPS Act registered at Kavoor Police Station and by the Customs Department at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport.
Police suspect she may be part of a larger drug trafficking network, and investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about her involvement and the source of the drugs.
